2006 Manitoba Forage Symposium, March 21-22, MacDon Showcase Bldg., Winnipeg, MB.

This year’s event had a split-focus – the first day focused on silage production and the second day on hay quality and profitability. As well, the large MacDon Showcase building also afforded the opportunity for a demonstration clinic on the large commercial equipment.

The program on the first day of the program showcased the silage equipment clinic plus technical presentations on silage swath management, baled silage technology, the use of forage preservatives and the selection of the best silage system for your farm.

The second day addressed forage production technology, including the latest in alfalfa breeding work, the use of herbicides, hay preservatives and a number of presentations on opportunities in forage marketing. In addition, the auction of items donated by sponsors provided some exceptional value to bidders and contributed to the ongoing projects of the Council.
